Who am I ?
About me
Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog! Here’s a few words about the author (aka, me):
I grew up between France and Italy, and I consider myself binational. I currently work in Lyon, France, where I taught General and Business English to adults for three years. I am now teaching Business English at a local business school. Since 2020, I am Head of Department.
I love teaching, but I didn’t start my professional life this way: I graduated with a double Bachelor in Economics and Management in 2011. I was a little bit lost after high school, I must admit! I worked a few years in real estate, frankly hated it, and finally realized that teaching was definitely my thing. It was not all bad though when I think about it: I feel extremely comfortable teaching business topics, and I am in charge of the real estate management diploma (state diploma) that we offer at my school thanks to this experience.
Since I left the real estate world behind, I completed:
- TKT – 2016 (The Elt Hub)
- University Diploma in English Teaching – 2016/2017 (Université de Grenoble Alpes)
- CELTA – 2017 (ITTC in Bournemouth)
- CertIBET – 2018 (International House London)
- American TEFL certificate (Yale University) – 2018
- MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL (University of Portsmouth) – 2021
I started this blog when I was doing my TKT to document my journey, to talk about methods, problems, pretty much everything related to teaching and education, in general. All views expressed here are my own. I also wrote a few articles for the EL Gazette which you could find here
I am a bookworm, and I am passionate about history (US and British, mostly) and languages (In addition to English and French, I speak Italian and I started to learn Spanish and Russian). I would love to write for a living (not entirely, actually, because I love teaching way too much), non-fiction or fiction, a genre I would love to develop more if I had the time.
